HDR Friday: The Fabulous Sign

August 10, 2012 in HDR, Travel

Living in Southern California have its many perks... for example, having Las Vegas as SoCal's backyard allows everyone to visit at least once a year (of course for some folks it's more like SEVERAL times a month).  Anyhow, after many years of visiting Vegas I never had the opportunity to visit the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign at the beginning of the Vegas strip.  So during my last trip, I took few minutes away from all the entertainment to get this photo of my own.

Happy Friday folks! For all of you that are going to Vegas this weekend.. stay cool, because it's going to be HOTTTTT!

HDR Friday: South of Vegas

July 27, 2012 in HDR, Travel

So since I am stuck in Vegas alone for a few days for my day job, I figure I'll fully utilize my balcony view.  The registration desk guy didn't put me facing the Bellagio fountain (North side), but I'm not complaining.. the south side of the Vegas strip can be equally beautiful, especially during sunset.

The photo above was a 15 shot HDR panorama, with my camera prop'd on the ledge of the balcony.  Since the blog only allows maximum of 900px long in dimension, so I crop the shot below to shows you a little bit more detail on this panorama.

HDR Friday: Home Sweet Home

July 20, 2012 in HDR

It's pretty rare that I post any photos from my own home town, even though I have millions of them in my archive.  I guess grass is always greener since I'm always wishing that I'm anywhere else except LA.  This weekend, I'll just chill and relax given that the next couple months going to be crazy....

Here's the beautiful download Los Angeles near sunset and the beautiful Walt Disney Concert Hall!

Happy Friday folks!

If interested, you can purchase a print of this photo HERE!

HDR Friday: Sydney Harbour Bridge

July 13, 2012 in HDR

Another oldie but goodie...  Sydney Harbour Bridge is nicknamed "The Coathanger" because of its arch-based design.  It carries rail, vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic between the Sydney central business district (CBD) and the North Shore.  Across from the infamous Sydney Opera Hall, both stands still as the icons of Sydney and it is also the fifth longest spanning-arch bridge in the world.  *Source: Wikipedia

Next time we go, I'm aiming for a night shot of this bridge ;)

Happy Friday folks!

P.S. - Those of you who are at San Diego ComicCon this weekend.. I hate you! j/k

HDR Friday: Standing Still

July 06, 2012 in HDR, Travel

The pier at San Simeon was built in 1957, was repaired in 1969, 1982 and 1983, all as a result of damage from winter waves.  People seems to miss this spot being that it's a bit out of sight from the main road, but it's a great place to just relax, bbq or picnic and maybe even do some little fishing (even though the pier had one of the lowest catch-per-trip averages of any pier in this region).

Have a great weekend folks!

HDR Friday: An "Eye" Opener

June 29, 2012 in HDR, Travel

Took this photo of the London Eye near the ladder half of a 2-3 hours of photo walk around London's River Thames.  By this time, my face was freezing and I could barely feel my fingers nonetheless hold the camera for longer than few seconds under 5 degrees of wind chill factor.  But I troop on because I just have to have this one shot under the Christmas lights.

Have a great weekend everyone! Happy photographing!

San Diego Portrait Session - DJ Chris Anthony

June 25, 2012 in Lifestyle, Portrait

Back in late April, the wifey and I drove down to San Diego to do some portrait shoots around the city for Chris' upcoming project.  Having to work with Chris in the studio for his press kitpreviously, it was definitely a pleasure and an honor to work with him again!  We explored the city by foot, from San Diego Train Station, to Little Italy, then to the historic Gaslamp district, The Rooftop at the Ivy and finally stopped at the Lincoln Room where he perform every third weekend of the month.  Though we only were able to stay for the day, we all had a blast and treated this more as a mini getaway than a photo session.  So without further ado, here are some of my favorites from the day.

Also, please make sure to checkout DJ Chris Anthony's mixes and website here:

HDR Friday: I miss this...

June 22, 2012 in HDR

You know that ever so famous phrase "grass is always greener"?  Well that's the phrase for my wife and I.

When I took this photo, I was directly over our overwater bungalow deck and there was no effort needed in location scouting, or standing on top of a rocking boat.  All I did was sat there on the deck with a cocktail on one hand and camera on another and just wait for the light and color to show.  Nonetheless, it was our honeymoon and the sunset was beautiful as you can see, but we were bored being stuck on an island with nothing to do.  Yes, it sounds like a first world problem but if you know us, we are the type that are always on the go, action packed type of traveling and this was a change to our habits.  Now after 8 months since the trip, we MISS IT terribly!!! We missed the scenery, the fishies, the whole feeling of no worries, no responsibilities and plenty of time on our hand.

So what's the lesson learned?  Well, the grass can definitely be greener on the other side, but until you get to that other side, enjoy and cherish everything that you have NOW!  So on that note, go out and enjoy the weekend folks :)

HDR Friday: The Place to Unwind

June 15, 2012 in HDR, Travel

Hello folks! It's that day of the week again!  Surprisingly I've been able to get this HDR Friday going without missing a beat since February, so I'll try to keep this going as long as I can.

Today's photo represent one of my favorite place to relax in the Pacific Northwest, Vancouver's Portside Park (or Crab Park) located just within the Burrard Inlet.

While sitting on any one of the benches in this park, you would get the waterfront view of seaplanes landing in front of a gorgeous backdrop of North Vancouver and Grouse Mountain in a distance. On the opposite view, behind the benches there's this large grassy field just right below the beautiful architecture of Vancouver skyline, without a doubt this would be a place I would go weekly just to wind down and clear the mind.  It's too bad that it's 1300 miles away from Los Angeles and I have yet to find a spot that's similar to this place in Southern California.  Anyhow, for bonus photo below is one of my first HDRs of the view taken back in 1998.
