I absolutely LOVE themed photo sessions! Regardless if it's an editorial, engagement or personal work, just throw me an idea and we will get the ball rolling! This was exactly what Tran did for her engagement session and she went beyond just ideas, she was thinking like an art director and planned up everything she wanted for this twilight theme shoot. We even spent couple weekends out scouting for the perfect locations, and found this secret area within the Cal Poly Pomona's campus. With all the props and location setup, it was up to me to frame and execute the photos! Hope Tran and James loved these photos as much as I love taking them!
HDR Friday: London Skyline
Roaming around London in below 15 degree fahrenheit and wing chill factor of 5 degree was a first for me. By all means, I live in sunny Los Angeles most of my life, so anything below 40 is considered cold. Nonetheless, my buddy and I troop on and walked down the River Thame from Big Ben, London Eye (where I shot the photo above), Millennium Bridge to St. Paul's Cathedral. As cold as it was, it was one of the most refreshing photo walk I've ever had.
Happy Friday everyone!
HDR Friday: The Roman Pool
The Roman pool at Hearst Castle is by far one of the most amazing interior pool in my opinion, from all the intricate details of 1″ square 24k gold mosaic tiles to the marble statues it truly reflects the beauty of this amazing place. This past weekend, the wife and I took a quick one day road trip through Solvang and Morro Bay to ultimately here at Hearst Castle for the her first time experience. Nonetheless, I think she loved this quick getaway.
Here's a bonus photo from Hearst Memorial Beach pier right before our 4 hr drive home:
HDR Friday: Morro Rock
”Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
Happy Holiday weekend folks! So you have no excuse to not go out and explore!
Morro Rock/Beach may be one of the place I'll end up visiting this weekend. You gotta love weekend mini road trips ;)
HDR Friday: Under the Pier
If you're a photographer (or a hobbyist) and live in SoCal, you probably been here and have taken either this shot or the shot of the Santa Monica pier with the famous ferris wheel. I admit it is quite a cliche photo but hey it's my HDR version, don't judge me by it :P
For those who never seen this, well, I hope you like it :)
And as always, happy friday folks!
HDR Friday: It's a Pismo Beach type of weekend
Took this shot during one of our weekend excursion into the central California. We originally planned to visit the wine county but due to time restraints we decided to drop by Pismo beach and tried out one of the best Clam Chowders at Splash Cafe. Aside from a having an amazing beach to relax at, Pismo Beach is probably best known for its sand dunes and ATV riding, so hopefully we'll get to enjoy that one of these days.
For bonus photo, here's Splash Cafe:
Sneak Peek: Family Portrait - featuring Calleigh & Lucy
"Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole." - Roger Caras
Couple sneak peek photos from last weekend's family/pet photo session! Check out how good and adorable Cali (Calleigh) & Lucy were in front of the camera:
HDR Friday: Go with the flow
"Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like." - Lao Tzu
Happy Friday folks!
HDR Friday: Look Right
Here's another old photo but this time from across the Atlantic pond! I was fortunate enough to go to London a handful of times when I was at my previous firm, though I spent a good amount of time actually working, I did get a chance to roam around the city and enjoy the things that London have got to offer.
I took this photo prop'd on a pillar for a good 4 second long exposure, just enough to capture the entire light streak of a double decker bus passing by near the London National Gallery. If you ever get a chance to visit this gorgeous city, just remember to look right when you cross the streets :)
If you are interesting in obtaining a print of this photo, make sure you get it HERE.
Event Photography - Leslie's Retro 70's Party at The Reef Restaurant
Calling this an epic birthday party would be an understatement. Retro 70's decorations was intact, everyone showcased flower power, leisure suits and disco mama maxi dresses. Of course you can't have a 70's party without hanging the disco ball while rocking out the groovy music!
We have to admit, Leslie sure know how to throw a party! This was a birthday celebration that went far and beyond the typical dinner and the cake.. Thank you Leslie for allowing us to document and celebrate your birthday. Hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoy taking them :)
