Though, with all my years of visiting the bay area, I never had the chance to spend a day to photograph an engagement session.. until recently. All thanks to this sweet couple, Silvia and Richie!

So this past Saturday my wife got a call from Stephanie checking to see if I was available to photograph their engagement session next weekend... given that I had prior obligations scheduled, I respectfully declined.. then few seconds later, Stephanie goes "ok.. so how about tomorrow?" So with that, THANKS Stephanie and Brain for taking away my Sunday nap time! Just kidding :)

Last second call for an engagement session is sort of an adrenaline rush, there's no real time to prep, just pack the available gears and improvise. For Stephanie & Brian's session, the colors of the sunset proves that we picked a great day for a shoot... nap time well sacrificed :) Congrats Stephanie and Brian!

A Twilight Engagement | Tran + James | 06.03.2012

I absolutely LOVE themed photo sessions! Regardless if it's an editorial, engagement or personal work, just throw me an idea and we will get the ball rolling! This was exactly what Tran did for her engagement session and she went beyond just ideas, she was thinking like an art director and planned up everything she wanted for this twilight theme shoot. We even spent couple weekends out scouting for the perfect locations, and found this secret area within the Cal Poly Pomona's campus. With all the props and location setup, it was up to me to frame and execute the photos! Hope Tran and James loved these photos as much as I love taking them!

Salton Sea Couple Session - Karina + Chris

So a half day trip to Salton Sea was just not enough time for two different photo sessions. Regardless the time crunch, I was grateful that Karina & Chris was able to come out to hang out and do a quick shoot... after all, the love birds just recently got engaged! Griffith Observatory has always been one of my favorite spot in LA ever since jr. high. My buddies and I always tend to come over here to relax and hang out, feeling like we're on top of the world. During one of my email conversations with Trinh, she mentioned that this was one of the place that Ernesto had took her on a date! By all means I can't blame Ernesto, looking below you have an amazing view of Los Angeles, looking across the horizon you see the infamous Hollywood sign, and if you're looking for stars they have these ginormous telescopes within to look above towards the sky. Anyhow, before I digress, we had an awesome time shooting along the hiking trails and all over the Observatory. Trinh & Ernesto were such troopers hiking up the trails, fighting the tourist crowds, and jumping on top the ledges.
